Peewees sessions are held at Walhallow St on Saturdays at 10.30 am, and run for an hour. Refer to the Club Calendar for the first and last sessions for the season, noting the Peewees game days coincide with Junior competition days (that is: when Juniors are on holidays, so are Peewees).

Peewees are children turning 5 and 6 this calendar year.

The Peewees play 4 v 4 with a size 3 ball on pitches that are approximately 30 x 20 metres. Girls turning 6 can play Peewees or join the U6/7 girl’s comp.  Games are non-competitive and there are no set teams. Each session starts with a rotation of activities to develop each player’s individual skills of passing and dribbling. Players receive their own ball at the start of the season and are asked to bring their ball with them each week.  Players wear comfortable clothing, runners or soccer boots. Shin pads are compulsory and can be bought through the club.

Cones are used to mark the corners and sidelines of pitches and we use mini goals. There are no goalkeepers. The aim of these small-sided games is to maximise player participation as measured by the number of touches on the ball per player, and to promote skill development through playing in a confined space.

A big part of our Peewees program is aimed at helping the parents develop their own knowledge and increase their confidence to help their child develop their skills the correct way. Parent involvement is encouraged because research tells us children remain physically active when parents encourage and support them.
