What an incredible privilege it was for our President Andrew and others to attend the launch of Capital Football’s Football Connect competition recently. With over 40 excited players and their family and friends, Belsouth and three other Clubs presented kit (shirts, shorts and socks) to the players at Hawker Football Centre. This was followed by games between the teams. Belsouth will host the players and a round of the competition on Saturday 23 June and we are looking forward to their visit.
Talking about 23 June, that’s the date of our “Pink Sports Day” in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). It’s been great to see most Belsouth teams getting right behind the event and arranging their pink shorts and donations. Our target this year is $10,000 (over $6000 in 2017). Contact Michelle (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions.
We’ve had a big lift to our campaign with over 20 shops in the Jamison Centre signing on to “pink up” and collect donations too. Most of the shops at Cook have also signed on to the event. More information on their involvement soon.
And how good does the new mural on the canteen building look replacing the previous graffiti? Many thanks to ACT Sport and Recreation and Minister Berry for making this a reality for Belsouth. We are about to have our containers re-painted too to match the canteen block and promote Belsouth.
Our next Committee meeting is on 12 June at 7:00pm at the Belconnen Soccer Club in Hawker.
We are hopeful that news about refurbishment of our Murranji Street grounds will be announced shortly – watch this space.
